At Brighton Primary School the study of Science is not a stand alone subject, but integrated into the Primary Years Program. All year levels, from Prep to Grade 6, through the units of inquiry, study the four strands of science – biological, chemical, physical, earth and space sciences. The classroom teachers plan collaboratively with the science technician to deliver the science sessions.
Students study a wide range of topics including life cycles, states of matter, energy, natural resources and sustainability. Students also use a wide range of science inquiry skills to build their understanding and knowledge of science.
We have a well-equipped Science room that also includes kitchen facilities.
The school has a number of vegetable gardens and students have the opportunity to grow vegetables, harvest and cook with the produce.
The School participates in Science Talent Search organised by Science Victoria and all students are able to enter this annual competition.
